Vision

After 62 years, the former South Weymouth Naval Air Station just southeast of Boston has a new name and a new purpose. Christened SouthField in 2006, the 1,400-acre project has been named in tribute to the site's historic past as a strategic military airfield and in celebration of its bright future in the heart of the picturesque South Shore.

The magic of SouthField's future is important to us, but so is its legacy. With it concentrated, mixed-use, transit-oriented development, SouthField is the largest Smart Growth-style project in New England, and one of the premier master planned initiatives in the country — a magnet for new people, new jobs and new vitality in the region.

Respect for the natural environment is at the core of everything we do, and SouthField will incorporate forward-thinking design and engineering into all aspects of the project. Whether it be transportation, water quality, open space, energy or natural resource conservation, our goal is to enhance the quality of life for people today and ensure that the needs of future generations are met.
